filed a lawsuit for moral damages against five opposition parliamentarians who are part of the CPMI, for insulting the party and President Luiz Inácio da Silva.
The actions, signed by the national president of the party, Edinho Silva, target deputies Luciano Zucco (PL-RS), Marcel Van Hattem (Novo-RS) and Cabo Gilberto Silva (PL-PB) and senators Izalci Lucas (PL-DF) and Jorge Seif (PL-SC). In the actions, filed in the Federal District Court, the PT charges each person compensation of R$30,000.
and cited in the action, the parliamentarians associate the PT and Lula with embezzlement of social security discounts and an attempt to block the investigation.
“Your Excellencies are concerned about the punishment of these thieves, who, by the way, are led by the Lula government. The one who was convicted of corruption and money laundering and dismissed by those who, now, have claimed the right to carry out the INSS investigation, which is the Federal Supreme Court”, said Van Hattem in a session.
In another example cited in one of the actions, Izalci Lucas says that he has never seen “as much robbery as happened with the Workers’ Party”.
Zucco, leader of the opposition in the House, says that “this government, run by an ex-convict, tried everything to prevent the CPI from taking place to investigate the INSS robberies.”
For the PT, “the statements that are out of line with parliamentary action, whose sole objective is to tarnish the image and honor of the defendants, give rise to the compensation requested in this case.”
The party also refutes the argument that deputies and senators are entitled to parliamentary immunity.
“By propagating a fact known to be untrue before the Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry, with broad dissemination capacity, even if the defendant uses his status as a parliamentarian, the clear illicit act remains configured and, consequently, the compensable moral damage”, he states in the actions.
