First lady was chosen to represent Brazil at the FAO forum; on Friday (Oct 17), he must speak at the closing session
First Lady Janja Lula da Silva participated this Thursday (October 16, 2025) in an event to celebrate World Food Day, in Rome (Italy). On the occasion, she met with Pope Leo the 14th, who was also at the forum organized by the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations).
On his Instagram, Janja said that the leader of the Catholic Church “highlighted that access to healthy food is a fundamental human right and that all countries must come together to contribute to a fairer world”. He stated that the fight against hunger “It’s the main mission in life” of the president (PT) and mentioned that Brazil “left the FAO Hunger Map twice under the leadership of the president”.
Janja went to represent Brazil at the World Food Forum. The meeting began on Tuesday (Oct 14) and continues until Friday (Oct 17), bringing together representatives from governments, international organizations, civil society and the private sector. Janja has an agenda with around 10 activities scheduled during the 4 days of the event.
The first lady’s schedule ends on Friday (Oct 17), with her presence at the closing session of the forum, where she is expected to speak. The World Food Forum is considered the UN’s main annual event. The 2025 edition marks 8 decades since the founding of the international organization. The meeting seeks to discuss strategies for transforming global food systems.
