The competition-knowledge television show Duel has been broadcast by Slovak Television for many years. Every weekday, a pair of contestants compares their knowledge of various topics. In Wednesday’s edition Slovak highways were one of the topics, and moderator Gregor Mareš couldn’t help but make a funny comment.
When he asked the contestant what amount he would bet on this question, he said yes “for 40”. The moderator immediately took advantage of this by adding the word “… years” to the number, indicating that the highway, which was supposed to be built in 2010, is still not finished. The apt remark immediately put a smile on everyone’s face.
A day later, Mareš responded to the published video by saying that “what is true is not a sin”. and added that although the highways across Slovakia will probably not be built very quickly, the Duel evening show brings debate across the country.
