United States President Donald Trump confirmed this Wednesday (15) reports that he authorized the CIA, the US intelligence agency, to carry out covert operations in Venezuela.
“We have a lot of drugs arriving from Venezuela, and many of the Venezuelan drugs arrive by sea, so you can see that, but we are also going to stop them on land,” said the president in the Oval Office of the White House.
Without saying his goal was to remove Maduro from power, Trump said he felt Venezuelan leaders were under pressure.
“I think Venezuela is under pressure. But I think many other countries are also suffering. We are not going to let this country, our country, be ruined because other people want to get rid of, as you say, the worst of it,” he highlighted.
He was referencing the false claim that countries “emptied” their prisons and psychiatric institutions to send these people to the United States.
