Federal judge stops Trump’s mass layoffs

Washington – A US court has ordered President Donald Trump’s administration to temporarily stop planned mass layoffs during the partial government shutdown. Federal Judge Susan Illston based her decision on Wednesday in San Francisco on public statements by Trump and Vought that she said suggested political motives for the firings. Trump said, for example, that the cuts would target “Democratic authorities.”
