“The first call of a fascist, or prematurely fascist, movement is against intruders.” The phrase corresponds to and was pronounced at a symposium organized by Columbia University in 1995 – designed to commemorate the half century of the liberation of Europe -, an intervention translated by Maria Llopis and edited in 2019 by Ara Llibres with the title Against fascism. Without a doubt, the coordinates of time contribute to specifying political labels. But the distant words of the Italian intellectual do not seem to have expired in 2026. Rather, they provide perspective to dissect the nature of phenomena of our time, none as harmful to coexistence in Catalonia as the consolidation of proposals, increasingly capable of anchoring among our neighbors.
