The prosecutor of the serious crime department of the General Prosecutor’s Office (GP) of the Slovak Republic returned the case of the accused ex-head of the State Material Reserves Administration (SŠHR) of the Slovak Republic, Kajetán Kicura to the investigator with instructions to perform specific actions and resubmit. This follows from the information provided to TASR by Jana Tökölyová, spokeswoman of the SR GP.
GP reported in January 2025 that the investigator submitted a motion to indict the accused Kajetán Kicura. “The prosecutor of the serious crime department of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Slovak Republic returned the case to the investigator for additions with instructions to perform specific actions and resubmit,” specified Tökölyová.
Kajetán Kicura is being prosecuted for a particularly serious crime the crime of accepting a bribe in conjunction with the continuing particularly serious crime of legalizing income from criminal activity and for the continuing particularly serious crime of breach of duty in the management of foreign property in single action concurrent with the continuing crime of machinations in public procurement and public auction.
The former head of the SŠHR was released from custody by the prosecutor of the former Special Prosecutor’s Office in October 2021 at the request of the investigating officer. He has been in custody since April 2020.
Criminal proceedings for publicized information about the errors of the SŠHR in the procurement of medical equipment in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic and the purchase of apartments on Konventná street in Bratislava started by the former National Criminal Agency in March 2020. Kajetán Kicura denied the accusations.
