An action by the Acre Military Police (PMAC), carried out on the afternoon of this Thursday (16), resulted in the arrest of a teenager suspected of involvement with a criminal faction in the Areal neighborhood, in Rio Branco. The region is experiencing a territorial dispute between rival groups, which has generated a climate of tension and insecurity among residents.

According to the PM, the action was triggered after a complaint reporting the presence of armed individuals in the area. Upon arriving at the scene, the soldiers were greeted by suspects who fled, leaving behind drugs, fireworks and red spray cans. According to the police, the fireworks would be used to celebrate possible advances in rival territory, while the spray would serve to mark the faction’s dominance in the region.

During the patrol, the police also found that several homes and walls were spray-painted with the acronyms of the two factions — some overlapping — evidencing the dispute for control of the territory. The corporation believes that new clashes could occur in the coming days if the conflict is not contained.
