A serious traffic accident happened on Friday morning on the I/11 road in the village of Radoľa (Kysucké Nové Mesto district). At the traffic light, the truck driver hit a cyclist with the front part of the vehicle, who ended up in the hospital with injuries. TASR was informed about this by the Žilina regional police spokeswoman Zuzana Šefčíková.

“The driver was driving a truck with a semi-trailer in the direction from the city of Žilina to Čadca, where he should not have respected the red STOP signal light at the intersection for reasons that have not yet been precisely determined. He continued driving and hit a cyclist with the front part of the vehicle, who at that time was going in the direction from the village of Radoľa to Kysucké Nové Mesto. Šefčíková described the course of the accident.

She added that the woman suffered life-threatening injuries that required her immediate transportation to the hospital. “The driver submitted to a breath test with a negative result, a blood sample was ordered from the cyclist. The case was taken over by an investigator from the District Directorate of the Police Force in Čadec. Other circumstances, as well as the exact causes of the traffic accident, are the subject of an ongoing investigation,” Šefčíková added.
