After 10 years of affection, Portugal now needs love. This is the conviction of presidential candidate António José Seguro, in the presentation of the youth movement that supports him in the race for Belém, the “Futuro Seguro” Movement, this Thursday, in Lisbon.

António José Seguro spoke at the presentation of the youth movement that supports him in the race to Belém, the Safe Future Movement, emphasizing that “our country needs love”.

“I prefer to be remembered for promoting love than for distributing hate and for promoting extremism in this country”, he said, highlighting that this campaign is not about you, but about the future of the country.

“These causes of humanism, progress, democracy, are causes that your candidate brings to this campaign, which I want to be a civic campaign, in favor of the most important thing, which is written here: future”, he assured, after talking a little about his journey.

Then, as leader of the Socialist Youth, Seguro fought for the end of compulsory military service, considering that the “defense of the country and its Armed Forces must have a more professional nature” in the face of the challenges that exist.

Safe wants peace and love

“100 years ago, people were grabbed and a shotgun was put in their hands. Millions and millions of people died. I don’t want thatin Portugal, the young people are cannon fodder”, he defended.

For sure, “there are smarter ways” to defend Portugal.

“But I also want to say something very simple. The best defense we have is investing in peace and resolving problems must be done peacefully”, he pointed out.

Seguro sees a new cycle after Sunday’s local elections and insisted on the idea that his campaign is “supra-partisan, plural, independent, open, where each person thinks in the way they see fit”.

Even so, upon entering the event, Seguro stated that he took “good note” of the company.

However, “the role of the President of the Republic is to be above the partiesa President who serves the country, with dialogue, with independence, and above all helps to solve the problems of the Portuguese”, he defended.

Faced with the insistence of journalists, Seguro considered that “no candidate is uncomfortable with having support”. “I want to be the President of all Portuguese people, and that’s why the more support you have, the better”, he pointed out.

But support doesn’t just come from the PS. The newspaper highlighted the presence of several right-wing personalities alongside Seguro in this campaign until the presidential elections.

Among them, this is the weekly, several “passistas” – namely the “friend” Vasco Rato and the “next” Jorge Marrão.

“It is support on an individual basis, because the I consider the best candidate At this juncture, what provides more guarantees of seriousness, competence, moderation and responsibility”, Vasco Rato admitted to Expresso.

Pedro Gomes Sanches it is also side by side with Seguro. In one in the same newspaper, Passos Coelho’s “friend” highlights the socialist for being “a candidate independent, a transparent politician and a decent man”.
