Military police officers from Bope (Special Police Operations Battalion) carry out, this Friday (17), a new operation in the Morro do Tirol region, in the Parish, in the Southwest zone of Rio de Janeiro. According to the unit command, the action aims to locate.
To date, there are no records of arrests or seizures, and the operation remains ongoing.
On Thursday (16), a meeting of members of a criminal faction that, according to the Undersecretary of Intelligence of the Military Police, would take place in the same community. The meeting would have been organized by “Sardine”appointed as head of drug trafficking in Cidade de Deus.
According to information from the corporation, the group planned attacks on areas dominated by rival gangs. During yesterday’s action (16), there was a confrontation between agents and suspects. Two men were arrested, and two rifles, a pistol and a large quantity of drugs were seized from them.
The operation had the support of police officers from the Jacarepaguá battalions (18th BPM), BOPE, BPVE (Police Battalion on Expressways) and RECOM (Special Rondas and Crowd Control Battalion), who reinforced patrolling on the main access roads to the communities of Tirol and Cidade de Deus.
Police also worked on the removal of nine buses that had been used to block roads near the region. After the vehicles were released, policing was reinforced.
The seizures were registered at the 32nd DP (Taquara), and policing remains intensified in the region.
