The Israeli Army says it identified a ‘suspicious’ vehicle crossing the yellow line, and, after warning shots, soldiers ‘opened fire to eliminate the threat’
The Civil Defense of the , operating under the authority of the , said this Saturday (18) that it had recovered the remains of nine Palestinians who, it said, were killed on Friday (17) in an Israeli shooting at a bus.
“In coordination with the Red Cross office, Civil Defense teams managed to rescue nine martyrs after the Israeli occupation hit a bus carrying displaced people east of the Zeitoun neighborhood in Gaza City yesterday,” he told AFP Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Bassal.
The Israeli army said in a statement that it had “identified” a “suspicious” vehicle crossing the yellow line, a reference to the line of withdrawal of Israeli forces inside the Gaza Strip agreed as part of the ceasefire. After warning shots, the soldiers “opened fire to eliminate the threat” and did so “in accordance with the agreement”.
