On the bus to happiness: A trip with the Kastelruther Spatzen fans

Traunstein is still sleeping. It is Sunday morning, shortly after six o’clock, and the small town in Bavaria is in the dark. There’s only something going on at the train station: a group of older people are waiting for the coach that will take them to breakfast. So many people wear traditional costumes that one of the women briefly worries about her wardrobe: “Is it bad if you don’t wear a dirndl dress?” No it’s not. A bus will take them to Castelrotto, like thousands of others that day. An event that is the highlight of the year for many.
