Flamengo and Palmeiras have everything to be the big game in the next round of the Brazilian Championship. The duel, which is scheduled for Sunday (19), at 4pm, at Maracanã, already has some controversies, such as the surprise doping test on Rubro-Negro.

Who is the referee for Flamengo x Palmeiras?
Wilton Pereira Sampaio was appointed by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to lead the duel between Flamengo and Palmeiras.
Referee for the Goiana Federation and member of the FIFA board, Wilton has extensive experience in national and international competitions. He was present at the 2018 FIFA World Cup as a video referee and, four years later, he served as main referee at the World Cup in Qatar, officiating four matches.

In the current edition of the Brazilian Championship, Wilton has already worked in 16 Série A matches. His most recent game was in the 28th round, when he led Vasco’s 2-0 victory over Fortaleza, at Castelão. Throughout the tournament, he committed 441 fouls (average of 27.6 per game) and issued 98 cards (average of six per game).
In 2025, Wilton was also one of the Brazilian representatives at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, refereeing three matches: CF Monterrey 1 x 1 FC Internazionale (1st round), Red Bull Salzburg 0 x 0 Al Hilal (2nd round) and Paris Saint-Germain 4 x 0 Inter Miami (round of 16).
