The State Civil Defense issued an intense cold alert in São Paulo for the next few days, starting on Saturday (18). Temperatures should reach 8º C in the Metropolitan Region of the capital and up to 5º in Serra da Mantiqueira. The government will mobilize solidarity shelter for people in vulnerable situations.
The low temperatures occur after the passage of the cold front that has hit the state since last Friday (17). In the coming days, the forecast is for a minimum of 9°C in Vale do Ribeira and the regions of São José dos Campos and Itapeva.
In Baixada Santista and the North Coast, minimum temperatures should reach 14°C. In Campinas and the Sorocaba Regions, thermometers must reach 10°C. In Bauru and Araraquara the temperature reaches 11°C. In the regions of Presidente Prudente, Marília, Araçatuba, São José do Rio Preto, Barretos, Franca and Ribeirão Preto the forecast is 12°C.
Solidarity shelter
O , from 7pm this Sunday (19). The shelter should be open until Wednesday morning (22).
The intention is to offer emergency shelter to the homeless population during the coldest days. Food, mattresses, blankets and humanized reception will be available on site. The shelter also welcomes pets.
In the morning, when leaving the shelter, those welcomed will receive a ticket to have breakfast at the Bom Prato restaurant, on Rua 25 de Março.
The city of São Paulo will also provide a shelter through Operation Low Temperatures (OBT), which began on Saturday (18). By the end of September, the action recorded 1.7 million visits to the tents.
