Vienna – After the end of the third quarter, it is clear that the decline in the number of asylum seekers has remained stable this year. There were 13,032 applications in the first nine months. That is 32 percent less than in the previous year. In Europe as a whole, the decline was only 19 percent. What is striking is that, as in 2024, the proportion of female asylum seekers is higher than in previous years. More than half of the refugees are no older than 18. Meanwhile, 662 Syrians have left the country voluntarily.
