Abel Ferreira compares basketball to football to complain about a penalty

In the press conference after the match, he preferred not to expand on the subject but commented that there had been a foul on Bruno Fuchs at the beginning of the play.

The Portuguese coach also made reference to basketball to comment on the move.

“It’s true, Bruno can avoid the situation (of the stomp). But we have to see what happens first. Bruno is thrown to the ground. If it were in basketball, it would be a foul on the part of the attacker. But it’s not basketball, it’s football. The referee decides. Pedro gives a push and takes advantage”, said Abel.

Palmeiras failed in individual moves that were responsible for Flamengo’s victory. Regarding these moves, Abel regretted the performance, highlighted that this cannot happen in games like this but said he was proud of his squad:

“When we are proposing the game, there are certain passes that we cannot miss. Football is made of mistakes, I am the first one to make a mistake. Regardless of the negative result, I feel very proud of what my team did”, he declared

At the end of the press conference, Abel regretted the result and praised the Flamengo team:

“I leave sad for the result, but proud of my team’s behavior until the last second. And Flamengo is an excellent team with an excellent coach, they don’t need… Other things. Flamengo is good enough to share the game against any team in Brazil”, he concluded.

With the victory against Palmeiras, Flamengo now has the same 61 points as the leader, but remains in second place due to having one less victory than Alviverde.
