Amazon said on Monday that its cloud computing unit, Amazon Web Services (AWS), faced an outage that affected several websites and applications globally, including Snapchat, Facebook, Fortnite, Prime Video and Alexa.
According to the website Downdetector, which monitors internet outages, users reported instability in several services on Amazon and other popular platforms. In a note published on its status page, AWS confirmed the problem.
“We can confirm significant error rates and increased latency for several services in the US-EAST-1 region,” and said its engineers “were immediately activated and are actively working to mitigate the issue and understand the root cause.”
