Several online services, including Venmo, Snapchat, Fortnite, Facebook, Prime Video and Amazon’s cloud computing unit, AWS (Amazon Web Services), were affected by instabilities on Monday morning (20), according to the website Downdetector.com, which monitors internet outages.
On its status page, AWS issued a statement stating that the cause of the instability affecting companies and users around the world has been identified.
“We are working on several parallel paths to accelerate recovery,” the note said.
“During this time, customers may be unable to create or update Support Cases. We recommend that you continue to retry failed requests. We will continue to provide updates as we have more information to share,” the statement added.
Amazon Web Services
AWS (Amazon Web Services) is Amazon’s internet cloud service that connects companies to people who use their applications or online platforms.
Companies using AWS pay a subscription fee to the technology giant to enable reliable online communication between companies and their customers.
According to an HG Insights report published this year, AWS holds a 30% market share in the global cloud infrastructure market, with a customer base of over four million.
The virtual environment, according to the company, is “the most comprehensive and widely adopted cloud in the world.”
