In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces stated last Sunday (19) that they ‘will continue to apply the agreement and will respond firmly to any violation’
The Defense Forces of (FDI) killed this Sunday (19) at least 36 people in dozens of bombings in different areas of theafter accusing the of having violated the ceasefire in force since the 10th, due to clashes with Palestinian militiamen that left two Israeli soldiers dead. According to a death count up to 8:30 pm (local time, 2:30 pm Brasília time) carried out by Gaza journalists using data from hospital morgues, the majority of victims, a total of 30, arrived at Al Awda and Al Aqsa Martyrs hospitals, located in the center of the Strip.
Another three were transferred to Shifa hospital (north) and three more to Nasser (south). Several of the attacks took place in central Gaza, specifically in Deir al Balah, where six people were killed in front of a cafe; as well as in Nuseirat, where at least three fatal attacks were recorded. One of the attacks in Nuseirat was against a building being used as a Gaza police base, where three people died, and a second against displaced people’s tents in the west, where six more died.
The third fatal bombing in the area targeted the Al-Baz family residence, leaving an as yet undetermined number of dead. In the Zuwaida area, also located in the center, an attack hit a chalet used by Palestinian Media Production, a company that works for international media outlets, such as the Qatari broadcaster “Al Jazeera” for its live broadcasts. A live broadcast technician and Ammar Al Zaaneen, son of journalist Mohammed Al Zaaneen, died there, according to an employee of the company. In a photo of the location shared on social media, a van with the company logo can be seen next to a standing tripod, surrounded by bloodstains.
In the north, at least two attacks were recorded with two people killed in Jabalia, and a bombing killed a woman and two children in the coastal area of Mawashi, where many displaced people take refuge in campaign tents. “In Khan Yunis, as well as in the center, (city of) Gaza and in the north, the Israeli occupation continues with its strategy of killing and clearly attacking civilians in the Gaza Strip”, denounced the Civil Defense spokesman in the enclave, Mahmud Basal.
The attacks occurred after clashes this Sunday morning in the Rafah region, south of Gaza and controlled by the IDF, which resulted in the death of two Israeli soldiers. These clashes were carried out by a group of fighters, supposedly from the Gaza government police, linked to Hamas, who opened fire on the Israeli military. Both Hamas and its armed wing denied involvement in the exchange of fire.
Israeli forces called it a “flagrant” violation of the ceasefire and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered “forceful action against terrorist targets” in Gaza. After “dozens” of attacks throughout the day, the IDF claimed to have “resumed the application of the ceasefire” on Sunday night, as instructed by the Israeli government. In a statement, it indicated that it “will continue to apply the ceasefire agreement and will respond firmly to any violation thereof.”
