The list of spectacular burglaries in museums was expanded by one case on Sunday. The theft in the Louvre in Paris, in which pieces of the French crown jewels were stolen, gives reason to look at similar incidents in recent history. Fortunately, many of the known cases were solved, those responsible were convicted and the works were brought back to safety.
