The former minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, announced in a video published on
“I’m leaving to be a candidate in 2026, and Guilherme Boulos is coming in, because he won’t be a candidate, to take care of the management. I want to say that I’m leaving with the feeling of a mission accomplished”, declared Macêdo, taking stock of his 34 months at the head of the General Secretariat.

Macêdo expressed gratitude to the president (PT)who decided to resign due to dissatisfaction with the management of the department and the desire for a shift to the left with a view to the next elections. “The word I have to say right now is gratitude,” said the former minister.

His replacement will be federal deputy Guilherme Boulos (PSOL-SP), whose appointment will be officially published in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU) this Tuesday, 21st. The change in the General Secretariat signals a strategic move by the government, seeking to strengthen its base and ideological alignment for future challenges.
