PSOL President defends Boulos for the Senate – 10/21/2025 – Mônica Bergamo

The national president of , Paula Coradi, told the column that she defends that (PSOL-SP), , compete for in 2026.

“They will be very important and the scenarios, in general, are very open. [Boulos] can fulfill the role of being a candidate for the Senate next year in . But this type of definition will happen later, not now”, said Coradi.

Boulos and agreed that he will not run for re-election to the Chamber, as the column said. The agreement provides for him to remain in office until the end of the government. If he decides to run for the Senate, he will have to leave the ministry six months before the elections, in October.

According to her, Lula’s invitation to the deputy was “individual” and did not undergo party negotiation. “Boulos informed us that there was an invitation. We’ve been talking for a while, but it wasn’t exactly a partisan negotiation with the president,” he stated.

Coradi recognizes that the departure of Boulos —who had 1 million, half of the total won by PSOL in the state— could cause a dispersion of votes, but he is betting on the strength of other party leaders.

“Of course it makes a difference not having him as a candidate, but we believe that Erika Hilton will come close to that mark, because she had an excellent mandate and had great political growth,” he said.

The leader also said she can count on her as one of the party’s vote-pullers, despite rumors that the deputy may not run for re-election. She also mentions minister Sonia Guajajara, Sandra Bonfim and professor Luciene Cavalcante among the strong names for the Chamber.

Coradi is also betting on renewing staff, with names such as former PSOL president Juliano Medeiros, state deputy Guilherme Cortez and Guilherme Simões, from MTST (Homeless Workers Movement).

She admits that there may be “pulverization” of the electorate, but says she believes the impact will be smaller than expected. “Although Boulos is a figure with many votes, we have our place in society, our political space and new figures. PSOL has a consolidated electorate in São Paulo and should have an excellent result.”
