Flamengo beat Racing 1-0 on Wednesday night (22), at Maracanã, in the first game of the Copa Libertadores da América semifinal.

The winning goal was scored in the 43rd minute of the second half, after a rebound inside the area that deflected off Marcos Rojo before ending up in the back of the net.

Flamengo dominated offensive actions throughout the match, finishing 19 times compared to just four from the Argentine team.

Goalkeeper Facundo Cambeses was one of the highlights of the match, making important saves that kept Racing alive in the game until the final minutes.

The team led by Filipe Luís had extensive possession of the ball, controlling 71% of the actions, in addition to creating 14 clear scoring chances. The visitors, on the other hand, opted for a defensive strategy, managing to make 10 successful tackles and seven blocks throughout the match.

Samuel Lino scored a goal for Flamengo in the 36th minute of the final stage, but the shot was canceled by the VAR for offside.

This puts Flamengo at an advantage for the second leg in Argentina, where a draw qualifies the Rio team for the Libertadores final.

Racing, in turn, will need to win by two goals at El Cilindro to advance directly, while a one-goal victory will take the decision to penalties.
