Ankara – An espionage investigation has been opened against the imprisoned former Istanbul mayor and popular opposition politician Ekrem İmamoğlu. The public prosecutor’s office in Istanbul also opened an investigation against Ekremİmamoğlu’s campaign manager in the 2019 and 2024 local elections, Necati Özkan, as well as against the editor-in-chief of the opposition television station Tele1, Merdan Yanardağ, as the Anadolu Ajansi news agency reported on Friday.
