Lucky Bamboo is an extremely charming plant that will attract many eyes and, if superstition is to be believed, also good luck and money. It is a specimen from Asia that has been distributed all over the world. It owes its fame to both its appearance and its properties.

In Feng Shui, this plant is a symbol of prosperity and happiness, her Chinese name is “Fu Gwey Zchu” — mark it with happiness and money. This plant has been considered auspicious for thousands of years in China. It was mainly (also currently) given during the Chinese New Year.

Lucky Bamboo is supposed to represent wood and fire, many people tie a red ribbon around the flower potwhich is intended to enhance the potential effect and attract money even better. The number of shoots is also important:

• 3 – are supposed to bring good luck.
• 5 – is able to attract wealth.
• 6 – are intended to ensure good health.
• 21 – is a “package” that is supposed to guarantee all of the above.

Only four shoots are not recommended — in Chinese, this number sounds similar to the word “death”, so it is avoided, although this superstition is slowly being forgotten. Nevertheless, it is better for the plant to have one shoot less or a few more.

This plant can be grown both in a vessel filled with water and in a pot with soil. Cultivation, regardless of the method, is not particularly demanding, if placed in water, it should be replaced approximately every 3 weeks. In the case of soil, it is worth choosing the one dedicated to dracaena. When watering bamboo, you should use boiled, cool water – water straight from the tap contains too much chlorine, which may cause yellowing of the leaves.

Lucky Bamboo prefers sunny positions away from drafts and radiatorsfeels good at home (temperature approx. 18-24 degrees C). It does not require fertilization, but from time to time you can provide it with homemade fertilizer – it needs to be diluted more strongly than, for example, for orchids. Thanks to this, these plants will grow properly and perhaps bring more happiness and wealth to your home.
