According to PMPE (Military Police of Pernambuco), the action began when teams from the 12th Battalion received information about a stolen vehicle driving on Avenida Abdias de Carvalhoin the West Zone of the capital.
The police located the car near the Rectory of UFPE (Federal University of Pernambuco), but collided with another car.

One of the men tried to escape by jumping over the bars of the IFPE Regional Center for Nuclear Sciences (Federal Institute of Pernambuco), but he also ended up shot. During the operation, the PMPE seized two .40 caliber pistols, a 9mm submachine gun, chargers, ammunition, cell phones and the mask worn by the suspect. The stolen vehicle was recovered, and other cars involved in the incident were sent to the DHPP.
In a statement, the Civil Police reported that the incidents were recorded as vehicle theft, attempted murder and death resulting from police intervention, and that investigations into the case continue.
