The two leaders should meet on Sunday (26) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and the tariff imposed on Brazil should be the most important topic of the meeting
O said this Friday (24) at the end of the State visit to that the meeting with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, will not have a vetoed subject. The two leaders are scheduled to meet on Sunday (26) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The tariff imposed on Brazil should be the most important topic of the meeting. “It will be a free meeting in which we can say what we want, how we want, and we will hear what we want and don’t want too. I am convinced that this meeting will be good for them and for Brazil. We will return to our normality”, he stated
The president also said that he wants to discuss sanctions on ministers of the such as the Magnistsky Law and visa revocation, and also geopolitical issues, such as China, Venezuela and Russia. “Brazil’s interest is to put the truth on the table, to show that the United States is not in deficit, therefore there is no explanation for the taxation made to Brazil. There is no reason to explain the punishment of our ministers, of Brazilian public figures in American laws, there is no explanation, because they did not make any mistakes, they are complying with the Constitution of my country and at the same time the taxation policy is something that depends on Brazil, it depends on the National Congress”, he stated Squid.
The president also once again criticized Trump’s decisions on operations in the Caribbean Sea, with the Armed Forces, against those accused by the of joining Venezuelan drug cartels. The operation is seen as a threat of military intervention in Venezuela, and worries the Brazilian government. Now, Trump has compared drug traffickers to radical terrorist groups, such as Al-Quaeda and the Islamic State. Lula said that the territorial sovereignty of each country and the self-determination of the people must be respected and that he will be delighted to discuss the issue with Trump.
“You don’t say you’re going to kill people, you have to arrest people, judge people, find out whether or not the person was trafficking and then you punish people according to the law,” said Lula, in yet another criticism of Trump’s military policy. “It’s the least a head of state is expected to do.” The PT member suggested that should take care of users instead of sending the Armed Forces by land, air or sea. And he expected police cooperation in the region.
“It is much better for the United States to be willing to talk to the police of other countries, with the Ministry of Justice of each country, so that we can do something together. Because if fashion catches on, each one thinks they can invade the other’s territory to do what they want, where will the word respectability of countries’ sovereignty appear? It’s bad. So I intend to discuss these issues with President Trump, if he puts it on the table”, he stated.
The PT member also said that there is a supportive relationship between drug dealers and drug addicts. “Every time we talk about fighting drugs, it would probably be easier for us to fight our addicts internally. Users are responsible for drug dealers who are victims of users too. You have an exchange of people who sell because there are people who buy, of people who buy because there are people who sell”, said Lula.
