Luisa Stefani and Timea Babos win and conquer the WTA 500 in Tokyo

Luisa Stefani, Brazilian tennis player and current number 1 in Brazil, and Hungarian Timea Babos won the doubles title at the WTA 500 in Tokyo.

The final was played this Sunday (26), when the pair beat their opponents Anna Danilina, from Kazakhstan, and Aleksandra Krunic, from Serbia, in two straight sets, with scores of 6/1 and 6/4.

This triumph marks or Stefani/Babos’ fourth title of the season — they had already conquered, together, those of Linz, Strasbourg and São Paulo.

During the competition, Stefani and Babos performed at a high level. In one of the matches leading up to the final, they beat the team’s favorite pair — the American Taylor Townsend and the Australian Ellen Perez — by 2 sets to 1.

Luisa Stefani, 17th in the world rankings, reached her 21st final and lifted the 13th trophy on the WTA circuit.
