American President Donald Trump said he believes that Brazil and the USA will reach a “good agreement” after the imposition of tariffs on Brazilian products.
“I think we will be able to close some good agreements, as we have been talking about, and I think we will end up having a great relationship,” said the US president during his meeting with Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Kuala Lumpur, on Malaysia.
When asked if the US would reduce tariffs on Brazil, Trump said “We’re going to discuss this for a while. We know we know each other. We know what each other wants.”
This was the first scheduled face-to-face meeting between the two presidents and lasted around 50 minutes.
Lula and Trump are in Malaysia to participate in the 47th Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) summit.
