The mayor of São Paulo, recently reaffirmed his decision not to run for state government in 2024, choosing to concentrate his efforts on the administration of the capital of São Paulo. During a tribute at the Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo, Nunes highlighted the importance of his partnership with the governor, to whom he promised support in the next election. The mayor emphasized the need to continue ongoing projects, especially in the areas of mobility and the environment, such as the expansion of subway lines 16 and 17, which have received significant momentum from the state government.

Last Saturday, Nunes participated in a tree planting action in Brooklyn, south of São Paulo, as part of the “São Paulo Mais Verde” program. This initiative aims to plant 120 thousand trees by COP 30, and has already reached the impressive milestone of 115 thousand trees planted. During the event, the mayor highlighted the environmental benefits of urban forests, which help reduce local temperatures by up to 6ºC, in addition to contributing to biodiversity and the fight against climate change.

With the water crisis on the agenda, Nunes highlighted the active participation of municipal secretaries in the water crisis committee and the measures adopted to save water, such as the use of recycled water and rainwater capture.

Nunes’ decision to support Tarcísio de Freitas is in line with the continuity of projects and political ideologies shared between the two leaders. The mayor believes that the governor’s re-election will bring significant benefits to the city of São Paulo, especially in matters of mobility and transport.
