The operation
To date, 64 deaths have been confirmed. Among the dead, there are 60 suspects, two civil police officers and two military police officers from BOPE (Special Police Operations Battalion), according to state security forces.

The joint operation of the Civil and Military Police mobilized around 2,500 agents, with the main objective of stopping the territorial advance of the Comando Vermelho faction and serving a hundred arrest warrants against criminals in the Complexos do Alemão and Penha.
