The shift includes clashes against Flamengo, RB Bragantino, Juventude and Internacional. Agreement with the promoter

Casares explained that the agreement with Live Nation, responsible for the shows, was already signed before changes to the calendar promoted by the CBF. According to the president, if São Paulo had qualified for the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores, there was a clause that would guarantee that the games at Morumbis would be continued, regardless of the scheduled events.

The first game affected will be against Flamengo, on November 5th, in the 32nd round. Next, São Paulo hosts RB Bragantino, on November 8th, in the 33rd round. The clash against Juventude, scheduled for November 23, will be the last in Vila Belmiro until then. There is still the game against Internacional, in the penultimate round of the championship, which will also be played in the city of Santos.

Official statement from Casares

In the statement released to the press and fans, the president of São Paulo, Julio Casares, explained the shows at Morumbis. He began by highlighting the priority of football at the club: “Dear colleagues from São Paulo, I want to express the facts that explain the holding of shows in these next few weeks at our home, MorumBIS. Contrary to what many question, football is our reason for existing and will NEVER be put in the background by our management.”

Regarding the planning of the presentations, Casares detailed that the period was chosen to minimize impacts on the competitions: “In the first semester, after studies and discussions with the show promoter, the presentations were scheduled for November. The chosen period was the one that would have the least impact on the competitions. However, the national football calendar, which at that time placed the end of the Brazilian Championship on December 21st, was changed. As a result, the number of matches during this period increased, and the agreement with the show promoter had already been signed.”

He also recalled that there was a specific plan if São Paulo reached the Libertadores semi-final: “It should also be noted that, if the team had qualified for the Conmebol Libertadores semi-final, there was already a plan aligned with Live Nation so that the match would be held at MorumBIS.”

Finally, Casares reinforced the importance of football and justified the revenue from the shows: “Finally, I want to emphasize, once again, that the priority will ALWAYS be football. And this revenue from the shows will be important to pay the expenses of our main football team.”

Tricolor’s next commitments

With the change of headquarters, São Paulo will have to adapt to Vila Belmiro to maintain its sequence of matches in the Brasileirão. The team concentrates its efforts not to lose crucial points in the final rounds, while management reinforces that the revenue from the shows will be used to maintain professional football.
