“Sweet or adoption?”: AlgarveShopping turns Halloween into a gesture of love for animals

AlgarveShopping will mark Halloween with a different proposal: exchanging the traditional “trick or treat” for a gesture of solidarity and love for animals. In partnership with the ARA Association – Animal Rescue Algarve, the shopping center is promoting a special responsible adoption campaign this Friday, October 31st, between 10:00 and 17:00.

In a statement, AlgarveShopping asks: “What if, on Halloween, the question ‘trick or treat?’ if a new option were added: ‘or responsible adoption of a four-legged friend’?”, highlighting that “animal abandonment is a true horror story, but the ending could be different.”

The initiative takes place on Floor 0, next to the Meeting Point, and promises to transform “Halloween” into a date of companionship and solidarity, with the presence of several rescued dogs looking for a new family.

In a festive atmosphere, “there will be no shortage of pumpkins, costumes and sweets — both for people and animals —, nor opportunities for photographs with these ‘monsters’ who just want to spread love.”

ARA, a non-profit association dedicated to the collection, rehabilitation and rehoming of animals in need, has developed awareness campaigns that call for empathy, conscious adoption and respect for animals.

With this action, “it reinforces its commitment to the animal cause.” Since 2023, the shopping center has been Pet Friendly, allowing the presence of pets in common areas and in several duly marked stores.
