After the most lethal operation in the state’s history, the governor of Rio de Janeiro defended the police’s actions and demanded ‘integration and financing’ from the federal government

The governor held a press conference this Wednesday (28) about the mega operation in. Considered the most lethal in history, the head of the Rio de Janeiro Executive declared that there is a ‘war against the parallel State’. Castro defended the police’s actions and demanded more support from the federal government. “The population’s support was clear because the population wants life as it is. With public security. We expect from the federal government a focus on integration in Rio de Janeiro. Working together, including financing”, said the state governor.

“At this moment, anyone who wants to join RJ in the fight against crime is welcome. To others, who want to play politics, our only message is: get lost. Either add or get lost. We are very calm about defending everything we did yesterday”, stated the state governor”, declared Castro during a press conference.

The outcome of the police operation may be even greater than announced, as the bodies are still being identified by the population. After the state government confirmed 64 deaths in the action on Tuesday (28), residents of Complexo da Penha spent the night and morning of this Wednesday (29)bringing the total tally of the tragedy to more than 128 victims – to date.
