SBT now has the broadcast rights to the 2026 World Cup, which will be played in the United States, Mexico and Canada. The broadcaster signed an agreement with the LiveMode agency, responsible for negotiating the broadcasting rights for the FIFA tournament.

Games broadcast by SBT in the 2026 World Cup

The package purchased by the broadcaster includes 32 games, all featuring the Brazilian team, as well as decisive matches in the competition, which for the first time will feature 48 teams. There will be one confrontation per day, and all broadcasts are within the package acquired by Globo, which means that SBT will not have exclusive transmission.

Coverage will be carried out using a model called “simulcast”, in partnership with N Sports. This way, viewers will be able to watch the games on open TV and subscription channels.

In addition to the signal, the stations will have the same transmission teams. Tiago Leifert and Galvão Bueno will be the highlights of the tournament, providing coverage shared between SBT (the company where Leifert works) and N Sports (the company where Galvão works).

Other broadcasts of the 2026 World Cup

Grupo Globo acquired half of the games, 52, for all its platforms, including open and closed TV. In Qatar-2022, the broadcaster had 56 of the 64 clashes on open TV. On SporTV, on the sports website and on Globoplay, all matches were shown.

Half of the World Cup package on Globo also extends to the knockout stage. In other words, in the round of 16, the broadcaster will have four of the eight events; in the quarterfinals, two of the four, and, in the semifinal, just one of the two clashes.

CazéTV is the only platform with 100% of the rights to the competition. The World Cup will be played from June 11 to July 19, 2026.

There will be 48 participants, also something unprecedented. The group draw will be on December 5th, in Washington DC, USA.
