Humorist Andrása is surprised by Minister Kaliňák: We had good relations and now I don’t recognize him!

Who wouldn’t remember a fun show Oliver Andrásy (68) and Elena Vacvalová (67) called Dereš, which was full of political satire. At the turn of the millennium, more than one politician sweated on the imaginary “dereš”. He was for many minutes in front of hundreds of spectators who were right in the hall, under fire from unpleasant questions and he tried to more or less dodge them with funny answers. In an interview for he said he regretted how some politicians had changed over the years, but not for the better.

“The case of Ján Čarnogurský is so surprising and maybe even sad for me, that I would not have thought, when there were demonstrations in front of the Palace of Justice for his release, that he would then hold such views as he does. But personally, I don’t know if I’m disappointed, but I’m surprised, let’s say, by Mr. Kaliňák, with whom we had generally good relations during Dereš’s time and he was quite a funny person, so he was often our guest,” admitted the well-known humorist and continued.

“We had good relations and now I don’t recognize him, I’m just amazed at what opinions he holds. Now, lastly, a year in prison for someone influencing the election, I don’t know if it’s from abroad or from where, or how it should be. But what is influencing elections? If I say before the Czech elections that Okamura is an extremist, would that be influencing their elections? And if, on the other hand, a Czech person says that the fascists should not win in Slovakia, is that influencing the election?” he added.

Oliver Andrásy was born on November 15, 1957 in Bratislava. As a young man, he said he wanted to be a ship engineer and was very fascinated by the sea. However, after graduating from the Secondary Industrial School of Mechanical Engineering, he did not pursue mechanical engineering any further, but studied journalism at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Comenius University in Bratislava.

From 1983 he worked as an entertainment editor at Slovak Radio, until 1994 he prepared the show Humorikon. As one of the producers, he prepared the program Snívajte s nami for STV. He participated as an author and presenter in the programs Čo pošeje ulica (STV), Aj múdry schybí (VTV, since 1997 Markíza), Dereš (Markíza). He participated as a director and producer in the shows Za pokus to stae (VTV), Bonzáčik (VTV, later Markíza) and Dve na tri (Markíza).

Andrásy’s shows had a long-term high viewership, which the author attributed to non-stop precise work. As he claims, he constantly prepared all parts of his shows as honestly as he would have done the first one. For many years he was known as a humorist together with Elena Vacvalová.
