COP30: deforestation data provides relief for Pará – 11/02/2025 – Panel

On the eve of the start of the , the conference on the (United Nations), Pará received with relief the deforestation data from , from Inpe (National Institute for Space Research).

According to , the state reduced deforestation by 12.4% between August 1, 2024 and July 31, 2025. In 2024, Pará had 2,395 km² of deforested areas; in 2025, 2,098 km² — the largest decrease in area in the North region.

Compared to 2021, when deforestation in the Legal Amazon exploded during the government of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), the drop reached 60%. That year, 5,238 km² of forest were devastated.

Considering the other states, the rate in Legal this year reached the third lowest level in the historical series (since 1988), with 5,796 km², a reduction of 11% in relation to the previous cycle.
