Pedro in the Libertadores final? Filipe Luís comments on the player’s future

After Flamengo’s victory over Sport this Saturday (1), coach Felipe Luís commented on the future of striker Pedro in the Copa Libertadores da América final against Palmeiras, on November 29, in Lima.

Rubro-negro beat Sport 3-0, in the Brazilian Championship.

“I’m not a doctor, but I’ve already broken my arm, leg, everything that’s a bone… It’s six weeks. It’s very adjusted for Pedro to arrive in the week of the final, but, considering the accelerated recovery he had with his knee”, commented the coach about a possible return of the striker who suffered a fracture in his right forearm during a duel against Racing, in the first game of the Libertadores semi-final.

The coach did not guarantee the return of , but he is optimistic. “He is a man of faith, and we all believe he can achieve this feat. Without putting deadlines or pressure, the most important thing is that he is well enough to be able to perform”, he stated.

The fracture

Striker Pedro, from Flamengo, suffered a fracture in his right forearm during the duel against Racing, in the Libertadores semi-final on October 22nd. The attacker underwent imaging tests and the report showed a non-displaced fracture in the ulna.

Three minutes into the second half, Pedro and Sosa collided with a ball left. The number 9 stretched out his arm to protect himself, but ended up getting the worst of the fight with the Argentine midfielder.

Even in pain, Pedro remained on the field until the 26th minute of the final stage. He was attended to a few times on the side of the pitch before being replaced by Bruno Henrique.

The injury represents a significant loss for Flamengo, precisely at a time when Pedro was in excellent form.
