After four months of truce, next Tuesday (4) they will hold an event in São Paulo against the current level of the rate, in a policy that, according to the president of , makes him miss the former president of .
The event, which will take place in front of the Central Bank building on Avenida Paulista, will bring together Força Sindical, UGT (União Geral dos Trabalhadores), CUT (Central Única dos Trabalhadores), NCST (New Central Sindical de Trabalhadores), CTB (Central dos Trabalhadores do Brasil) and CSB (Central dos Sindicatos Brasileiros).
For Miguel Torres, the current one, of , directly impacts production and the resumption of the country’s development. “It’s an atrocity,” he says.
He says that there was an expectation with Campos Neto’s departure and his replacement by the current president, . “We thought there would at least be an adjustment for the economy to improve. Nothing happened,” he says. “We already miss the former president, the way he is”, he jokes.
The union leader claims that Galípolo is not meeting the expectations that had been placed on him. “I think the Central Bank is lacking a sense of responsibility towards the country”, he criticizes.
Torres also assesses that the effects of the current interest rate are more harmful than that of the American one. “I tell you, without fear of making mistakes: our interest rate today is worse than Trump’s tariffs for industry, for the country”, he says.
“Because we are preventing people from investing. Those who have money invest in the financial market. They earn a little money there.”
“This rate at this level is a crime against Brazil, which needs to grow, needs to develop, needs to respond to our economy”, he adds.
