The United States attacked another ship allegedly belonging to drug smugglers in the Caribbean on Sunday night. During the intervention, according to US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, three crew members were neutralized. “This vessel, like all the others, according to our intelligence, was involved in drug smuggling,” Hegseth said in a post on the social network X. He said the attack was authorized by President Donald Trump and took place in international waters.
“These narco-terrorists are bringing drugs to our shores to poison Americans in their homeland, but they will not succeed. The Department will deal with them exactly as we dealt with al-Qaeda. We will continue to track them, map them, hunt them down and kill them,” the US Secretary of Defense emphasized. The declared goal of Washington is to prevent the penetration of drugs into the US territory. However, he has yet to release evidence that any of the affected vessels were actually used to smuggle narcotics.
