Lucas Albuquerque: history and how he plays
Captain and standout of the Bugre under-15 team, Lucas caught the attention of Palmeiras observers throughout the season due to his talent and maturity on the field. The young midfielder, left-handed and with a playing style of number 10, had recently renewed his training contract until April 2027 and was already participating in training with the professional squad that competed in the Copa Paulista.
The president of Guarani, Rômulo Amaro, highlighted that the moment Palmeiras experienced in training and valuing young people was decisive for the transfer:
– Guarani understands that, in the current scenario, the new challenge will represent an important opportunity for growth and development in Lucas’ career. We take into account the moment that Palmeiras is going through when it comes to projecting young talents, especially with large transactions for European football – said the director.
Former player Elano Blumer, current football coordinator at Guarani, praised the young athlete in June, when Lucas renewed his contract:
– Lucas is an athlete with a great projection in football, and this could be the tip of the iceberg for great things to come – said Elano.
Born in Jundiaí (SP), Lucas arrived at Guarani in 2023, at the age of 12, and quickly became a reference at the base. In addition to Palmeiras’ interest, the player was also monitored by clubs such as Athletico-PR, Grêmio, Internacional, Red Bull Bragantino and Santos. He was included in the pre-list of the Brazilian under-15 team for the Evolution Tournament, in Paraguay.
The young man thanked the club that revealed him and showed enthusiasm for the new challenge:
– I just have to thank Guarani and all the professionals who helped me during this period. It was a pride to wear this shirt with so much tradition. I also thank my teammates and coaching staff, because without them nothing would have happened – said Lucas.
The athlete’s father, Fábio Albuquerque, also highlighted Bugre’s role in his son’s education and praised his choice of Verdão:
– With the projection that Guarani gave to Lucas, several top teams approached us, but we are sure that we chose the best option together with the club.
