The targets of Operation Freedom are responsible for homicides and the expansion of drug trafficking in Salvador and other cities. Based on the results, the DHPP expects to elucidate at least 30 murders that occurred in Salvador.
The Operation has the support of the Intelligence Superintendence of the Public Security Secretariat (SSP-BA) and the Technical Police Department (DPT). Freedom also aims to weaken the criminal structure, seize weapons and assets, arrest leaders and interrupt the flow of illicit resources used to maintain territorial dominance and the practice of homicides.
More than 400 civil and military police officers participate in the actions, which include teams from the DHPP, in addition to the Departments of Police Intelligence (DIP), Repression and Combating Corruption, Organized Crime and Money Laundering (Draco), the Specialized Department of Investigation and Repression of Drug Trafficking (Denarc), the Specialized Department of Criminal Investigations (Deic), the Metropolitan Police (Depom), the Interior Police (Depin), Women’s Protection, Citizenship and Vulnerable Persons (DPMCV), the Interstate Police Coordination (Polinter), the Coordination of Special Operations and Resources (Core), with the support of Denarc of the Civil Police of Ceará and the Integrated Force to Combat Organized Crime (FICCO-BA).
