Público should be one of Lula’s main targets in next year’s campaign; trips start on the outskirts of São Paulo
The recently sworn-in minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, will focus on his travels around the country on dialogue with informal entrepreneurs. The public should be Lula’s main target in the campaign in 2026. The minister will begin what he calls a “tour around the country” in the city of in one of the outlying neighborhoods, yet to be defined. The capital of São Paulo is familiar terrain for Boulos, where he trained as a militant for the and the place where he was a candidate for mayor twice. At the event, which should take place next week, Boulos and President Lula must sign an ordinance establishing the rules and destinations for the tour around the country.
Informal entrepreneurs were one of the main targets of Boulos’ campaign for mayor in 2024. But the investment in this electorate only appeared in the middle to the end of the campaign, after the influencer and then his opposing candidate, Pablo Marçal, had already established a connection with this part of the electorate.
Now, Boulos wants to pave this public as an electoral asset for starting investment in dialogue now. The minister intends to listen to the needs of this electorate, to formulate public policies suggested in next year’s campaign.
Informal entrepreneurs are those who remain below the radar of the MEI (Individual Microentrepreneurs) and usually do not want to formalize to avoid paying taxes, for example. In addition to this main focus, Boulos must use street movements to mobilize that pressure the National Congress to vote in favor of issues such as regulating workers via app and the end of the 6×1 scale.
