Black Friday 2025 arrives on November 28th, and with it come “super discount” posters and campaigns that promise unbeatable prices. But are all promotions real? DECO PROteste warns that not everything that seems like a good opportunity is in fact.
Not all promotions are what they seem
According to the consumer protection organization, it is essential to compare prices before making any purchase. “The pretext of Black Friday brings with it the announcement of huge discounts on a series of products. However, sometimes, these promises do not correspond to real opportunities to make good deals”, says DECO PROteste.
The entity recalls that, in previous years, cases of price increases were detected days before Black Friday, creating the illusion of a bigger promotion. The result? The consumer ends up paying the same, or even more, than they would have paid at another time of the year.
Tool helps confirm whether the discount is true
To avoid falling into this type of trap, DECO PROteste offers the Compare Prices tool, which allows you to check the price evolution of a product in online stores. Just enter the name of the article or paste the product link and the system returns a “traffic light” with three colors:
- Verde: good deal given recent history.
- Yellow: the price did not change much.
- Red: the product has already been cheaper — it’s better to wait.
According to the same source, this system analyzes the price history of the last 21 days, helping the consumer to understand whether the discount is genuine or just apparent.
How to prepare before Black Friday
DECO recommends planning purchases in advance and not acting on impulse. “The best offers are, as a rule, those that sell out sooner”, warns the publication. To be prepared, it’s worth following stores on social media, subscribing to newsletters and creating a list of the products you really need.
Furthermore, many promotions start days before the official date. Paying attention can guarantee lower prices and avoid the stress of the last few hours.
Pay attention to returns and online purchases
The organization reminds us that anyone who purchases online has the right to return the product within 14 days, even without reason. In physical stores, the merchant is not obliged to accept returns, except in the case of a defect.
Therefore, before finalizing the purchase, confirm the exchange and return conditions. Also avoid unknown websites or websites with offers that are too good to be true, as these may hide scams or counterfeit products.
Information is the best defense
Black Friday can be a good opportunity to save, but only if done carefully. Checking price history and comparing before buying is the safest way to ensure that the discount is real.
The enthusiasm of the season may be great, but, as , reminds us, “the best purchases are informed ones”.
