At least cinco people have been injured in an alleged intentional accident on the island of Oleron, in France. The authorities have opened an investigation to clarify what happened.
As explained by the Minister of the Interior of France, Laurent Nuñez, who traveled to the scene, “a driver of a vehicle has run over multiple pedestrians and cyclists in Saint-Pierre-d’Oléron and Dolus d’Oléron.”
At least two victims are in serious condition, while three have been injured. The suspect is detained and “an investigation is open”as the minister added. The mayor of the island, Christophe Sueur, has assured the French network BFM TV that the driver “deliberately” hit “all the people he could find” and then “intentionally set fire to his vehicle.”
