A criminal police officer accidentally fired a firearm on Tuesday night, in Annex IV of the Chamber of Deputies, in Brasília. According to the House’s press office, no one was injured. The shooting took place inside the so-called sandbox of the Firearms Precaution Room, a space used to decommission or supply weapons to employees and visitors who have legal possession and need to access the Chamber’s buildings.
After the incident, the police officer was taken to the Federal Legislative Police station of the Chamber, where he registered a report. According to the official note, the procedure is standard in these cases. After registration, the agent was released.
The Chamber’s press office reported that the weapon was under the police officer’s control at the time of the shooting and that the area is prepared precisely to contain this type of incident, reducing the risk of injury or damage.
