Culture in focus: Junina Pega-Pega brings joy and tradition to Escola João Batista Aguiar this Tuesday

The project “Pé na Estrada: Junina Pega-Pega nas Escolas” arrives this Tuesday, November 5th, at Escola Doutor João Batista Aguiar, in the Manoel Julião neighborhood, in Rio Branco, promising another night of joy, dance and appreciation of Acre’s June culture. The presentation is scheduled for 7 pm and ends another stage of the June caravan that has enchanted communities and students wherever it goes.

Carried out by the Instituto Junina Pega-Pega, the project aims to spread the tradition of the June gangs within the school environment, bringing children, young people and families closer to the cultural manifestations that are part of the Amazonian identity. “Pé na Estrada” reinforces the role of art as a tool for inclusion, belonging and strengthening local culture.

It is also worth highlighting that all presentations are accessible in pounds with Junina Pega-Pega’s interpreter, Luciana Araújo dos Santos.

The initiative is financed through Public Call Notice No. 03/2025 from the Elias Mansour Culture Foundation (FEM), with resources from the Ministry of Culture and the Federal Government, and has the support of federal deputy Meire Serafim. This partnership has enabled the project to travel to schools in Rio Branco, offering free presentations, workshops and moments of integration with the school community.

With each new stop, Junina Pega-Pega reaffirms its commitment to keeping the tradition of the June festivals alive throughout the year, celebrating the diversity and strength of Acre’s popular culture.

For the CEO of Instituto Junina Pega-Pega, Cimar dos Santos, actions like this reinforce the institution’s commitment to valuing popular culture and training new generations of players. “Today, on National Culture Day, it is very significant to be here, in this community where Junina Pega-Pega develops its actions and builds its trajectory. The João Batista Aguiar School is part of this territory, this space of coexistence and cultural identity that welcomes us. Being here is a way of valuing our audience, presenting our work and ensuring that new players, young people and creators of culture feel inspired to continue this tradition that is so important for our state and our history”, he concludes.
