Around 40 protesters open a lane in a restricted area in defense of financing for forests, one of the agendas supported by Lula
The group held a demonstration this Thursday (November 6, 2025) in a restricted area close to Parque da Cidade, where COP30 (2025 United Nations Conference on Climate Change) will take place in Belém. The group, with some indigenous people, had around 40 people.
The COP30 Leaders’ Summit will be this Thursday and Friday (6-7.nov). COP30 will start on Monday (10.nov). It will run until November 21st.
The group opened a banner with the inscription: “Direct financing for those who care for the forest”. It is something that the president (PT) defends. He hopes countries will support the (Tropical Forests Forever Fund).

There was no security impediment to the event at the site. But the group was unable to advance to the even more restricted area, at the entrance to the building where COP30 will take place.
Angélica Mendes, 36 years old, said that the group arrived in Belém on Sunday (Nov 2). Everyone came by boat from Santarém (PA). She is from Rio Branco (AC).
