This Thursday morning (6), the Federal Police (PF) carried out seven search and seizure warrants and two preventive arrest warrants in an operation that aims to investigate illegal practices involving the hiring of a non-profit social organization by the Municipality of Sorocaba, in the interior of São Paulo. The city’s mayor, Rodrigo Manga (Republicans), was removed from his position by court order.![]()

The kidnapping and unavailability of assets belonging to some of those investigated were also determined, worth approximately R$6.5 million, in addition to the application of precautionary measures such as suspension from public service and prohibition of contact with certain people.

Rodrigo Manga, known for being a media personality, took to social media where, through a video, he confirmed his removal from office.
“Guys, believe it or not, they removed me from the position of mayor. (…) But I want to tell you that I’m not going to give up on Sorocaba. I’m not going to give up on Brazil. What they’re trying to do will make our name grow even more, because the God of the impossible never fails. I’m going to check what happened,” he said.
The second phase of Operation Copy and Paste, launched this Thursday, is the result of the analysis of the material seized in the first phase of the operation, on April 10. According to the PF, the material made it possible to identify new individuals and legal entities allegedly involved in the scheme, who are targets of the second stage investigations.
Those investigated may face charges of active and passive corruption, embezzlement, bidding fraud, money laundering, illegal direct hiring and criminal organization.
